Courtnay Mecca, MS, CNS, LDN
Hi! Nice to meet you! As a licensed dietitian nutritionist (LDN) and Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) I work with clients to support better health using a functional nutrition and integrative health approach. What this means, is I use both nutrition AND lifestyle to help my clients find their path to wellness. Practicing functional nutrition, I take a root cause approach to look at symptoms and see what may be the root cause. While clients may come in with similar problems, each person has their own unique health history and lifestyle practices, and relationship to food that has gotten them to where they are today. From what I’ve seen with clients, our relationship with food can be complex and I get it! I fully take this into account when we work on your personalized plan. Education is a big part of my work with you- I want to empower my clients to go from surviving to thriving through nutrition and lifestyle changes.
A little about me…
I wasn’t always a nutritionist- I did a 15-year stint as a civil-environmental engineer
I love food and all things health and wellness
I’ve lived in Maryland -> a ski town in Colorado -> Maryland
I am also a yoga teacher
I love all things outdoors and nature, except bugs
I am a wife, mom, and dog mom
Stress and I have been in a long term relationship
What I thought was healthy for me turned out not to be
For years I was fatigued and felt like I was always getting sick, and battling migraines, sometimes for a week at a time and several times a month. Additionaly my skin, my energy level, and my mood were a mess. I then discovered yoga where I connected to my body and mind and found some stress relief. I decided to start a new path and study for my master’s degree in clinical nutrition and integrative health. Aligning my background in environmental studies, the mind body practice of yoga, and nutrition felt like a natural path for my career.
With my nutrition studies and the help of many wonderful colleagues, I was able to find relief from my migraines, reagain my energy, and clear up my skin! I love to help empower others to find their path to health and wellness.
